Job Description
The System Engineer shall provide implementation and installation services to customer projects within the assigned Program. The services shall be provided in accordance with our client's Project Delivery model and in accordance with the guidelines and plans set out by the Program Manager and Solution Architect.
The System Engineer is also assumed to contribute with ideas and suggestions for how to improve and simplify installation work.
Responsibilities
Project related responsibilities:
The System Engineer is responsible for providing the following services to the projects as agreed with the Program Manager.
- Participate in project hand-over from sales
- Establish the detailed technical solution in cooperation with the Solution Architect including identification of HW and SW items needed for a particular installation
- Establish planning for the installation in cooperation with the Project Manager, Solution Architect and Team Leader (if appointed)
- Provide information about the technical status to the Project Manager
- Establishment of project documentation in accordance with our client's Project Delivery model
A. Scooping, Planning and reporting:
- Recording of live traffic from the customer network
- Establishment of on-line access
- Project Integration Test -PIT (formerly called Factory Acceptance Test - FAT)
- On-site installation work consisting of SW and HW integration, configuration and testing to achieve the required solution
- Failure reporting (EPR) and follow-up (provides technical input until EPR is accepted or rejected)
- Risk assessment and reporting
B. System Integration and Validation
- Tailor standard Acceptance Test specifications to customer specific Acceptance Test specifications for "simple" projects with limited SA involvement
- Conduct and document Acceptance Test for "simple" projects (or project phases) consisting of standard applications
- Conduct and document Acceptance Test in cooperation with the Solution Architect for complex projects (or project phases) or projects involving customized applications.
- Prepare project documentation (i.e. as built documentation)
- Participate in the formal hand-over to the customer.
- Participate in project hand-over to our client's Customer Support responsible
- Provide input to project evaluation report
C. Test and Delivery
- Train other Customer Implementation and Support employees in new products, procedures etc.
- Act as coach for new employees.
D. Knowledge sharing
- Participate in Account Teams and support the other projects within the account team
- Participate in trials.
E. Other responsibilities
- Propose new and more efficient ways to install and deliver projects
- Document processes and procedures used in relation to integration and delivery work
Project delivery methodology:
The System Engineer is also supposed to:
- Planning of travel in cooperation with the Program Manager
- Agree with the Program Manager on which tasks to perform, at what time, for how long and by which means

- Implementation work performed in accordance with contract, budget, plan and quality standards
- Delivered technical solution in accordance with the scope defined in the Solution Document
- Customer satisfaction
- Risk management throughout the project
- Management of customer expectations from a technical perspective
- Project and product quality meets our client's and customer targets
