Job Description
The Sr. Systems Engineer will design and develop long and short range wireless communications protocols. Will also be responsible for implementation of services, features, etc., performance issues, troubleshooting, developing test cases to component and system level functionality, be fully responsible for design, development, testing and control of engineering projects dealing with practices and standards. Travel is 5%.
- Must have a BA, MA or PhD degree in EE, Telecom Engineering
- 5 years in dealing with Long Range Wireless (CDMA, EVDO, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS) technologies.
- 3+ years experience in Short Range Wireless Technologies (Bluetooth, WiFi, DSCRC, Zigbee, etc).
- 5+ years of experience with software development and simulations using C/C++ and Matlab.
- 5+ years of experience in developing Physical layer Digital Signal Processing algorithms for data communication protocols.
- 5+ years hands-on engineering experience, e.g. software/ circuit design, development and testing.
- Ideally will also have experience in telematics, have great written and oral communication, have knowledge in one wireless voice or data communications protocol development, GPS, navigation, IT architecture, network topology, design and analysis, etc.
- Automotive component and system development, testing & launch experience.
- 5+ years experience working directly at/ with Tier 1 and 2 Telematics Suppliers/ Partners/ Service Providers and their evaluation criteria, e.g. Long & Short-range NAD chipset and Wireless Service Providers, ASR, GPS, etc.
