Director of Device Strategy & Product Management

  • Recruited to drive creation, risk assessment, planning, ownership managerial oversight, financial planning and negotiations for the customer equipment division of a wireless multi-media service organization.
  • Develop & establish the vision, planning, design & implementation of the over all device roadmap & strategy. Providing the strategic link between company initiatives & operations AND the device world.
  • Own handset/ device entire life cycle including qualifying and overseeing equipment portfolio, considering customer growth targets, financial metrics, regulatory requirements, competitive pressures, product positioning, packaging, technical testing & requirements, service needs and overall company wide strategies.
  • Oversee planning, product management, & program management as it relates to the company's devices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to establishing and leading customer equipment programs, product evaluations, operational processes, business requirements, handset lifecycles, handset development, technical requirements, go to market processes, device information, & technical deployment.
  • Develop & manage all new & existing equipment vendor relationships to include design & technology roadmap planning, management checkpoints, operational initiatives, process improvements, day-to-day communications & escalations, contracts and legal agreements.
  • Establish and supervise the day-to-day operations of a dedicated cross-functional customer equipment team (approximately 20 employees), all necessary vendor managers, & directly supervise the Sr. Product & Sr. Program Manager Team.
  • Lead over contracts & product negotiations worth well over $500 million including, but not limited to, financial terms and conditions, pricing & volume, vendor support, and other business needs in order to achieve or surpass established revenue, cash flow & CPGA targets.
  • Interface with top management to plan and develop organizational strategies, operational efficiencies, content development, data strategy (BREW, JAVA, WAP, PTT, MMS, EMS, LBS, IM, Music, Ev-DO, LTE, Video, Wi-Fi, WiMax, etc.) and proposals for improving product profitability & revenue targets. This includes developing key criteria that will enable the leadership team to identify which initiatives will provide the greatest ROI and will be ascertainable given the complexities of the execution.
  • Direct a wide range of project & product management tasks including project oversight, day-to-day operations, resource management, cost/benefit analyses, budgeting, go-to-market strategies, product testing, & promotional activities.
  • Represent the organization in industry panels, media, analyst discussions & investor relations as it relates to wireless devices. Act as the internal & external voice of the company's device strategy.
  • Manage operational issues & escalations in the areas of engineering, logistics, reverse logistics, channel management, customer care, IT, product development, & sales as it relates to all device related matters.
