Trunk and Carrier Maintenance and Provisioning

  • Coordinates work operations with other employees required to make routine tests and repair equipment or facilities.  Coordinates the installation, rearrangement and disconnection of plain old telephone service (POTS), trunks and special services.
  • Reviews and interprets service, circuit diagrams, layout records, or other technical documents (i.e., WORD documents), and follows standard practices for provisioning special services, carrier, and message circuit orders such as T1, T3, DS0, DS3, PR1.  Reviews and analyzes complex schematic drawings in performing work operations.
  • Coordinates Circuit Provisioning Group (CPG) activities associated with sensitive projects such as E911, FAA, and major customer networks.  Performs other duties associated with CPG work such as participating in special studies, coordinating work efforts with others, etc., when required.
  • Maintains the integrity of mechanized and manual records on facility and equipment assignments for POTS, trunks and special services.  Also, maintains records required for trouble reports, routine tests, trouble clearance and work activities
  • Utilizes TIRKS, SOCS, WFA, Taskmate, and other systems as required to perform CLA job functions. Works on Luscent and Nortel switches such as DMS100, 1AESS, 5ESS etc
  • Provides technical input into the preparation of trunk translations for central office switch assignments and complex customer services.  Prepares analysis for trunk link network balancing with switch vendors and Switch Capacity Management
  • Utilizes technical knowledge of Synchronous Optical Network rings and interfaces with Circuit Capacity Management (CCM) to analyze and resolve inconsistencies with ring architecture and equipment hierarchy.
