Our client is a major provider of mission-critical Voice and Data Switching systems for Command and Control, Air Traffic Control, and Conferencing Control Worldwide and within the USA to Federal government agencies and the military.
We are looking for a Communication Systems Engineer to do post-sales proprietary telecommunication system design and integration including hardware and software deployment and testing. The Sr. Systems Engineer will also troubleshoot system issues as they are identified either in the field or in the lab, and will monitor and provide remote technical support.
The successful Communication Systems Engineer will have experience doing telecommunications engineering and network configuration, plus supporting, integrating and deploying hardware/software solutions. This will include the following:
Understanding concepts for both Analog Voice and VoIP communication systems and be able to document the systems in MS Visio.
Working knowledge of Windows Operating system required, with Linux a plus.
Working knowledge of IP networking.
Understanding of IP troubleshooting including experience using tools such as Wireshark is required.
Understanding of Analog troubleshooting using tools such as transmission test sets and scopes.
Excellent ability to break down problems and systematically troubleshoot to identify the cause.
Experience monitoring systems such as Zabbix and providing remote support is a plus.
Experience interfacing with customers.
Experience working in a mission critical environment a plus.
Experience with Application server deployment, drive imaging, maintenance, and monitoring (Tomcat, Jetty, Nginx, HAProxy) is a plus.
Experience with Scripting languages (Bash, Ruby, Perl, Python) is a plus.
SQL database deployment, maintenance, and monitoring (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
