Director of Field Operations – Wireless Ground Services

Our client has been in business for over 25 years and provides engineering, repair and maintenance services for both wireless and wireline communications infrastructure throughout the US.

Location: May be based near airport in TX; CA, GA, OK, KS, MO, AR. Dallas or Atlanta are preferred.

Due to growth in their wireless business segment, we are looking for a Director of Field Operations to manage our client’s wireless service business in the Southwest or the Southeast Region.

The preferred locations are Dallas, Texas, or Atlanta, GA but candidates will be considered who are near a major city anywhere within the Southwest or Southeast regions.

The Director will have P&L responsibility for the region and will be responsible for growth, quality and margin.

The Director of Field Operations will ensure the continuous operation of customers’ wireless Cell Site ground equipment including HVAC units, generators, electrical and other ground maintenance and handle any escalations from the team or from the client.

The Director will have a team of managers as direct reports. These managers have over 40 tower and ground maintenance technicians within the regions.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and develop relationships with Customer operations managers and directors to ensure smooth operations and also, to upsell additional services and increase revenues.
  • Drive operational efficiencies by initiating performance improvement programs, developing appropriate metrics and goals, developing and documenting processes, and utilizing technology. This includes capacity planning, demand forecasting, drive time metrics, and more.
  • Prepare various reports such as wireless analysis, progress reports on job and work orders for clients, and capacity/demand forecasts.
  • Ensure employee safety through education and monitoring.
  • Recruit, hire and discipline personnel
  • Maintain necessary inventory and supply levels.
  • Be willing to learn our client’s operations management software to efficiently track team performance.
  • Travel to cell sites regularly to oversee, motivate and assist the field personnel.


  • Minimum 10 years of Operations experience including management of a wireless field ground equipment maintenance and repair team in a 24/7 environment, including hiring and firing responsibility ideally at a Senior management or director level.
  • Relationships at Tier 1 wireless operators (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and/or T-Mobile) .
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer facing experience, including the ability to develop customer relationships
  • Experience working for an equipment vendor providing ground services to wireless operators including Maintenance Agreements or SLA’s for equipment such as generators, batteries, HVAC or other ground maintenance.
  • Experience with analyzing data and processes to develop improvements in operations, and the ability to communicate these in reports or presentations is a plus.
