Support the organization’s installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring efficient operation. Analyzes business and technical requirements, application issues, determines impact on applications and interfacing systems and proposes appropriate solutions. The application scope includes existing applications/systems, third party and in-house applications. Responsible for managing the day to day operations of switch technicians, installation, and inside trouble technician teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining servers in a VMWare virtualized environment as well as standalone servers running Windows Server 2003-2012 and Linux
Responsible for systems management, developing systems and upgrades, ensuring technology systems provide on-going support, managing and recommending network and system support.
Responsible for local-area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), network segments, and Internet and intranet systems.
Responsible for developing and managing Information Systems security, including disaster recovery, database protection and software development.
Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
Monitor and analyze network performance across the organization’s LANs, WANs, VOIP and wireless deployments.
Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.
Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan.
Monitor and adjust the performance of existing networks and continually survey the current computer site to determine future network needs.
Maintains network hardware and software, analyze problems, and monitor networks to ensure maximum availability to system users.
Oversees system backups and recovery operations.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots desktop hardware and software packages and Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems for both Windows and Mac systems.
Provide Technical support and guidance to junior engineers, surveillance engineers and Field Operations. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support.
Provide technical assistance to personnel engaged in operation and maintenance of microwave systems.
Building out and managing 4G wireless network.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5+ years of work experience.
Should have experience managing firewalls, VPN’s and routers
Should have experience managing SAN and NAS devices
Should have experience with Microsoft Server operating systems, including experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 Datacenter
Should be familiar with Alcatel-Lucent Router systems
Troubleshoot Optical Network issues OC3 to OC192, CWDM, DWDM, 10G LANPHY and Gig-E Ethernet.
Worked with CLECS and other carriers or service providers in isolating equipment and fiber line faults.
Familiar with Genband, Calix, Nokia CNB & Nokia Core.
Experience building out and managing 4G Wireless Networks.
Experience in directing the administration, maintenance, development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases and quality assurance for disaster recovery.
Experience in providing technical support and guidance to users, as well as experience with supporting customer service and end users on a variety of technical issues.
Experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing network security measures.
Must be available during non-standard working hours for deployments, repairs, and maintenance
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities at one time and consistently achieve results on a timely basis.
Works in temperature controlled office environment.
