Job Description:
The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day production operations of the business, ensuring efficient processes by managing staff, monitoring quality control, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic changes to optimize productivity and achieve organizational goals; key responsibilities include hiring and training employees, managing budgets, and overseeing quality assurance programs to maintain operational standards. The Operations Manager reports to the VP of Finance and Operations.
Responsibilities:
Minimum 7 years’ experience in a Management/Supervisor role in a manufacturing environment.
Follow and enforce all established policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
Determine if new manufacturing machines, tools, methods, and fixtures are needed.
Inventory/In process control and tracking systems (MRP, Barcode, RFID).
Ensure the target productivity level is achieved daily.
Manufacturing process analysis and Improvement.
Responsible for plant financial performance while meeting customer requirements.
Oversee the Hiring, training, and evaluation of production workers; and monitor to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Works Closely with the Production Resource Planner to ensure schedules are being met.
Manages Supervisors so that all production lines adhere to Work Instructions.
Coordinates with Director of Quality on all aspects of production including recommendation of procedures.
Review and Recommend Capital Equipment Budgets and P&L Expectations.
Completes direct reports evaluations and recommends goals and improvement plans.
Machining Knowledge includes metal parts, fixtures, fabrication, & tooling, Injection Molding Knowledge a Plus.
Performs other incidental and related duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Proven leadership skills.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels.
Ability to read and understand technical documents and interpret written assembly instructions.
Has worked in a High Mix, Low Volume Manufacturing Environment.
Knowledge of Sage ERP software & Bar Coding or similar Back Office/Production Software
Knowledge of Excel/Word/Outlook/PC Office Systems.
Education & Experience:
A four-year degree and/or 7+ years of related experience and proven performance.
Experience and Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Concepts.
Possess strong calculative and analytical skill sets.
