New Job Opportunity: Sr. Business Development Manager – Southern California

Contact: Susan Fine      Ref: 8113

Description:

We are looking for a sharp, outspoken, and highly connected Senior Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth for our Open RAN Radio Unit (RU) portfolio. This is a hunter role for someone who thrives on building pipeline, closing deals, and owning relationships with Tier-1 operators, system integrators, and OEMs across the telecom ecosystem.

You’ll be the face of our RU business in the market — someone who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo, push back on internal roadblocks, and speak directly and confidently with CXOs, network architects, and procurement teams. If you have a strong network in the Open RAN / telecom infrastructure space and a proven record of closing hardware/RF deals, we want to talk to you.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full sales cycle for Open RAN RU products — from prospecting and qualification through negotiation and closing — across assigned accounts/territories.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline with Tier-1/Tier-2 telecom operators, MNOs, neutral hosts, system integrators, and OEM/ODM partners.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships to open doors quickly and accelerate deal velocity; bring a strong network of decision-makers in the Open RAN ecosystem.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, O-RAN Alliance forums, and operator briefings — be visible, be vocal, be memorable.
  • Drive commercial strategy for RU products, including pricing, positioning, and competitive differentiation against incumbents (Nokia, Ericsson, Samsung, etc.) and other Open RAN vendors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and RF hardware teams to translate customer requirements into winning proposals and ensure technical credibility in sales conversations.
  • Negotiate and close commercial agreements, MSAs, and multi-year supply contracts, working closely with Legal and Finance.
  • Track and report on pipeline health, forecasts, and account plans with rigor and honesty.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers on Open RAN RU trends, spectrum bands, deployment models (macro, small cell, indoor), and interoperability (O-RU/O-DU/O-CU splits, fronthaul, etc.).
  • Provide market intelligence back to leadership — competitor moves, pricing pressure, operator roadmaps, and RFP/RFI activity.

Qualifications:

Must-Haves

  • 8+ years in business development, sales, or account management within telecom infrastructure, RF/hardware, or networking equipment — with at least 2–3 years specifically in Open RAN, RAN, or RU/radio hardware.
  • Proven track record of closing complex, high-value B2B deals (six- to seven-figure contracts) with telecom operators or system integrators.
  • Established network of contacts among MNOs, Tier-1 operators, neutral host providers, system integrators, and Open RAN ecosystem players (O-RAN Alliance members, TIP, etc.).
  • Strong technical fluency in Open RAN architecture — understanding of RU/DU/CU splits, fronthaul interfaces (eCPRI, CPRI), spectrum bands, MIMO configurations, and RF power classes.
  • Outspoken, confident communicator — comfortable challenging assumptions, pushing deals forward, and negotiating hard without burning relationships.
  • True sales mindset: target-driven, comfortable with quota, energized (not intimidated) by commission-based upside.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (regionally/internationally) for customer visits, trade shows, and industry events.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Existing relationships with specific operators or SIs relevant to our target markets.
  • Experience selling into emerging markets or greenfield Open RAN deployments.
  • Familiarity with O-RAN Alliance specifications, WBA, or TIP working groups.
  • Prior experience at an RU/RAN vendor, RF component supplier, or telecom OEM.
  • MBA or technical degree (Telecom/Electronics/Engineering) is a plus, not a requirement.

Compensation & Incentives:

  • Competitive Base Salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Uncapped Sales Incentive Plan tied to bookings/revenue closed — top performers earn significantly above base.
  • Accelerators for exceeding quota.
  • Standard benefits: health insurance, PTO, retirement plan, stock options if applicable

Compensation: Based on Experience
