Job Description:

The Sr. Optical Network Engineer will design, implement, manage, and optimize complex optical fiber networks, with advanced technologies like DWDM, coherent optics, and network automation. You will lead projects, troubleshoot critical issues, and stay abreast of the latest advancements in optical networking to ensure reliable and high-performance network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and architecting large-scale optical networks, including capacity planning and redundancy strategies.
• Overseeing and participating in the installation, configuration, and testing of optical network equipment like DWDM systems, optical amplifiers, and transceivers.
• Diagnosing and resolving complex network issues related to optical signal degradation, fiber faults, and equipment malfunctions.
• Mentoring junior engineers, providing technical expertise, and leading project teams on complex optical network initiatives.
• Providing after-hours support and maintenance in on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of optical networking principles including fiber optics, DWDM, coherent transmission, and optical signal processing.
• Experience in network protocols like Ethernet, IP, and MPLS
• Proficiency with optical network management systems (NMS) and testing equipment (OTDR, CTC, CTP, etc)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve network issues
• Experience with network automation and scripting languages
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams

Hours:

Regular Hours are Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM with On-Call Rotation.

Compensation: Based on Experience
